Age Group And Types Of Music
Age Group And Types Of Music Music is known to be one of the most popular Arts in the world. A large number of people have grown up with it and majority of them are interested in learning an instrument as their hobby. Music is written in notation form consisting of scales, pitch, elements and etc. Now days, there are varieties of artist introduced around the globe every year. Each and every company/record has their own secrets in composing their songs. All those songs come in huge quantities of different genre of music, but the most common ones we know would probably be hip-hop, rock, pop and jazz. However, people have their own preferable genre that theyd like to listen to. Music has become an important part of peoples daily life. I have chosen this topic because myself, I am a musician and music is my passion. I have listened to all kinds of music and I have noticed that as Im maturing, the style of music I listen to tend to change. Due to this reason, I became very curious and determined to observe / find out from people at different age group about the types of music they enjoy listening. Predictably, teenagers are likely enticed to hip hop and rock music. On the other hand, elders can possibly be into softer or happy sort of music, for instant; jazz, blues, country, classical. Anyhow, that was just my hypothesis. The result will come to know after I have conducted surveys / interviews and all data is collected. The forecast can be proven wrong. Methodology / Planning In this project, Ill carry out surveys and questionnaires with students, teachers and other people outside school to find out if there is any correlation between age group and types of music they listen to. The information obtained can be different depending on peoples perspective. The research will be conducted in a way, where I will be interviewing 100 people from both male and female side. Afterwards, the result will be compared and present on graphs. For further calculation and sophisticated math method, Ill be using box whisker plot to determine the average answer of each questions and the Chi square test to find out if two factors are independent. At 10-15 years of age, majority of people are into Pop/Rock because of the reason that this genre has a catchy melody with simple and understandable lyrics, which allows young teens to easily get in touch with the music. This type of music is typically known as guitar-based songs. At the age of 16-20, a large number of people still enjoy listening to Pop/rock. However, the trend has changed over the past couple of years, where many teenagers are influenced and enticed to hip hop and RB. Many albums from various artists has released, producing unique kind of music, that can make people get on their feet and dance along. The music is created by using a program to innovate rhythm and beats, rather than using the instruments. The lyrics will require words rhyming and slangs, which you dont see it often in other genre. This is why, it is ranked second. Eventually, hip-hop and RB has become the most favorite types of music for the people between 21 28 years old. As you get older, the style of music you listen to tend to change. Metal and Techno/Electro officially disappeared. Pop/Rock and Hip hop is slowly fading on the graph. Elderly people mostly appreciate softer and happier sort of music such as romantic, jazz, blues and acoustic, where they will not be hearing unnecessary loud noises and the music is able to put them in the condition of relaxation. This has persuaded and turned into a challenge to many teenagers, to learn an instrument and become like their idol and also to play/compose the music they like. Anyhow, there are very few people from age of 21 and above that has knowledge and ability to play an instrument. The reason being is that in the old time, to study an instrument means to chose their path and career as a musician, which was tough back then to become successful. So, not many people were interested to spend their money on any instrumental lessons just as a hobby. Guitar comes in variety of shape and style, for instant, acoustic, classic, electric. They are able to fit in all genres, from soft music to hard rock. This is the blend that entertains people. Drums are another instrument that is heard in many songs. It is popular as a loud and noisy percussion but if you know how to play it properly, it is very essential in the band, as it is the instrument that keeps the beat in time. According to the age group of 21 years and above, people desire to listen to more of classical instruments. Ranked in number one the graph, along side with guitar would be piano. Piano has become the most appealing instrument that produces an amazingly beautiful and peaceful sound. This is the preferable instrument for the elderly people, who enjoy pure music. Violins and woodwind instruments are also incredibly pleasing to hear for this age group. The newest invention recently released is known as an I-Pad. With their high quality products and standout design, IPod/I-touch is ranked as number one music player. People among the age group of 10 28 years consider it to be an uncomplicated and convenient device that they regularly use it to listen to music. In the second position, it is recognized as the mobile phones. Currently mobile phones are not only used to call and message your friends or relatives, unfortunately it contains number of new functions, such as camera and music player. This made it favorable to people, where they will not have to spend their pocket money on a separate mp3 players or an IPod. At the age group between 29 and above, people are not able to adapt to high-technology as they find it quite confusing to operate. So, their preference is the CD players, where they only have to purchase a music CD, and put it in the machine to let it run. Radio is another device that seems to be around with old generation people for many years. The survey hasnt portrayed the answer that elderly people only listens to music when they are free or lonely, which the predictions of people seems to head that way. It is stated that as long as they are in the mood of joyful they can be listening to music anytime, even when working. On the other hand, starring at the age group of 21 and above, this is the age range that people will usually be busy with their work and prefer to rest and spend time with their family/friends. What so ever, there is a small group of young musicians that listens to music for inspiration. Music has inspired them and made the path for them to create their own music. They like to observe numerous artists and plenty styles of music for ideas to support their original innovation. At the age group of 29 and above, these groups of people are more mature, where they rather listen to slow and gentle music for relaxation. This is to get rid of any stressed after work or any confidential problems and loosen themselves in a comfortable position. A great amount of them do have a talent of playing a musical instrument and they all have the same taste of instrument that they like listening to, which is the guitar. As you know, teens now days are update with the trend of fashion and technology, so their commonly used device is an IPod/Itouch. With this convenient device they are able to listen to music most of the times and usually when they are happy and hyper, just for their enjoyment. For elderly people, they are attracted to the genre of classical, romantic and acoustic, where they find the sound of it very beautiful and pleasing. However, not many of them play a musical instrument according to my survey, but they all love the melody of piano. People at this age are still adapted to using a simplistic technology such as CD player and the old generation radio, when listening to music. With work overload and not enough free time, they are usually in a stressful condition, which is the exact reason why they listen to music for relaxation. Skilled Labor Scarcity Essay -- Human Resource Management
Article Summary Skill shortage is a genuine lack of adequately skilled individuals available in the accessible labor market with the type of skill being sought and which leads to a difficulty in recruitment. A recent article by Ben Casselman in the Wall Street Journal highlighted the difficulties recruiters and employers (specifically manufacturers) facing are moderate to severe shortage of skilled labors to fill their well-paying positions that requires specialized skills. The shortages (due to weak labor market) are being felt in what have been heavy-duty blue-collar jobs in manufacturing and other industries that somewhat do not require a college degree. The demand for skilled workers has a significant negative impact on the manufacturing firms and the skills gap can thus lead to a ripple effect. Skills gap is used to describe the qualitative mismatch between the supply or availability of human resources and the requirements of the labor market. Skills gap exists where employers feel that their existing workforce have inadequate skill type or skill level to meet their business objectives; or where new entrants to the labor market are apparently trained and qualified for occupations but still lack a variety of the specific skills required. The shortage also affects the less-skilled workers who lose out on spin-off jobs to support the increased production. Because of skills shortages, employers are lowering their expectations when recruiting people and cutting back on capacity and quality level. King Lear – Tragic Flaw
ââ¬Å"Tragic heroes are so much the highest points in their human landscape that they seem the inevitable conductors of the power about themâ⬠¦ great trees more likely to be struck by lightning than a clump of grass. Conductors may of course be instruments as well as victims of the divine lightning. â⬠Tragic heroes are characters of notoriety; held in high regard but are struck with misfortune through their own error. The most noble of men can succumb to their own flaws until driven to the brink of insanity, as illustrated in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s play, King Lear. King Lear represents all qualities of a tragic hero and in the end is ruined by his own vice, by driving himself to the point of full-blown insanity as a result of his actions. As all tragic heroes, Lear is a man of nobility. He is the King of England; he has power and is held in high regard. As King, Lear is generally well liked and well respected. As a tragic hero, King Lear has the ability to inflict fear and pity into readers, proving that he is in fact a well-liked character. He frightens the audience into falling into the same pattern of mistakes, for he is evidence that even the best of men can fall from grace as a result of their own actions. Much like the tallest trees of the forest, Lear stands tall amongst all others in his kingdom. He is the strongest, most powerful tree in the forest; a wealthy, noble, and respectable man. Despites Learââ¬â¢s qualities that identify him as greater man, he, as all tragic heroes, possess that one flaw that will destroy him. As he ages, King Lear believes it may be best if he passes his kingdom down to his daughters. He has the land divided into thirds; one piece for each of his daughters. He tells them that whoever proves they love him the most will receive the biggest share. Goneril and Regan, his two oldest daughters, shower Lear with words of false flattery and love solely to receive the biggest piece of land. When it is Cordeliaââ¬â¢s turn to profess her love for her father, the youngest and favorite of Learââ¬â¢s daughters, she merely says that she loves him as any daughter should; no more, and no less. Lear is outraged when Cordelia does not lavish him in kind words like he had expected her too and as a result banishes her from the kingdom. This action shows the reader insight to what will be Learââ¬â¢s downfall. What he does not realize just yet is that Cordelia is the only daughter that actually does love her father, but his rash judgment and arrogance blinded him from seeing this. As time passes by, Lear tries to live out the remainder of his life under the care of his two oldest daughters, who are supposed to love him the most. It is not long until they begin to abuse their ââ¬Å"belovedâ⬠father and treat him like a piece of trash. They lock him out in the rain, order their servants to be rude to him, and make him reduce his army. It does not take long after that for Lear to realize that he had made an enormous mistake, and the Cordelia was the one that truly loved him the most. The lightening had struck when Learââ¬â¢s arrogance led him to believe Cordelia would say more to show her love for him, and his tree had caught fire once his rash judgment resulted in Cordeliaââ¬â¢s banishment. Once Lear had recognized the monstrosity of the mistake he had made and bewildered by the betrayal of Goneril and Regan, his madness started to set in. He flees the home of his evil daughters and is left wandering through a great storm, completely consumed in his insanity. The French army, led by Cordelia, is on its way to Britain to save her fatherââ¬â¢s kingdom from her evil sisters. Battle breaks out, and Lear and Cordelia are both captured. Cordelia is executed in prison, and her father dies shortly after as a result of grief for his lost daughter and the remorse he felt for the mistakes he had made. Lear is the perfect example of a tragic hero. He is powerful and well liked, but ends up ruining himself. He exhibits the traits as a tragic hero, coming from wealth and nobility. He is arrogant and makes rash judgments, direct causations to him banishing Cordelia, which is the biggest mistake he could have ever made. He recognized the error of his ways, and then drove himself into a state of madness as a direct result. In the end, his tragic flaw led to him losing his power, the one daughter that actually cared about him, and his own life. The tallest trees are the most vulnerable when lightening strikes; closest to the storm. They act as conductors of the electricity, but are likely to be burnt down themselves. Lear was the tallest tree; the wealthiest and most powerful. When his arrogance and rash judgment kick in, the lightening strikes and his tree catches fire. It is slowly burnt down as Lear ruins himself completely with insanity; until all that remains is the ashes of a once prosperous tree.

Lord of the Flies Violence - 2712 Words
How does Golding use violence in the novel ââ¬ËLord of the Fliesââ¬â¢? In the novel ââ¬ËLord of the Fliesââ¬â¢, Golding uses the theme of violence surfacing throughout the text. One reason for this was, Golding believed that every individual has the potential for evil and that the flawed human nature is seen in ââ¬Ëmankindââ¬â¢s essential sicknessââ¬â¢. His belief in this arrived through his time spent in war, so his aim was to challenge Ballantyneââ¬â¢s novel ââ¬ËCoral Islandââ¬â¢, and in which Goldingââ¬â¢s book the truth would be shown about his own thoughts of the darkness of mankind. As the theme of violence is in the heart of the novel, another reason of this is due to the quick breakdown of civilisation on the island. Analysis Of Homer s Odyssey - 877 Words
In the ââ¬Å"Odysseyâ⬠, Odysseus goes through obstacles throughout the book that a normal man couldnââ¬â¢t subside. One example is in book 9, his main obstacle that he is trying to face is to escape from being held hostage in a cave by a Cyclops better known as Polyphemus. Odysseus is a archetypal hero, he is also a role model, with an ambition to get to his homeland Ithaca. He goes through resisting temptation and using his intellect and physical strength to get him there, no matter the obstacle nor the negative flaws that he faces. Odysseus put himself and his men in that situation by being curious and wanting to know what kind of land his ship and the winds led him to. This was selfish of him because it cost him some of his men, but a leader and hero has to play that role and some lives will be dealt with on the way. I would also like to carry out changes, which students would like to see occur, if agreed by senior management. I would be able to manage the additional workload by continuing to balance extra-curricular activities with school work as well as work needed to be completed by the Prefect. I would ensure that the senior students as well as I continue to play an important role around school by motivating them to uphold standards since senior school are the oldest students in the school and must et a good example to the rest of the college.
